Nestled in the vibrant area of Mercado 28, this hidden gem offers an array of traditional dishes that will tantalize your palate and transport you straight to the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula.
From the moment you step inside, the welcoming ambiance and friendly service make you feel at home. The owners are often on-site, ensuring each guest receives personal attention. The menu is a delightful showcase of antojitos, offering a variety of flavors and textures that truly represent local culinary heritage.
Cochinita Pibil, one of the standout dishes, is prepared using time-honored techniques that involve steaming the pork underground for 24 hours. This dish, celebrated for its rich, succulent flavor, has been described by patrons as some of the best in Cancun. The platillo surtido, a sampler plate, allows diners to explore an array of items and is perfect for sharing among friends.
For those seeking something lighter yet equally delicious, the Sopa De Limón provides a refreshing palate cleanse, while the Relleno Negro offers a unique twist with chicken and beef enveloped in a "black sausage" that showcases the depth of Yucatecan spices. Don't miss the Papadzules, warm tortillas adorned with chopped eggs and bathed in aromatic sauces, perfect any time of day.
The pricing is refreshingly reasonable—dishes range from 100 to 300 pesos—making Emara Antojitos Yucatecos not only a culinary haven but also a smart choice for travelers wanting true value amidst Cancun's often overpriced dining scene.
As the reviews suggest, each visit to Emara is met with excellent service and consistently high-quality food. Whether you indulge in the Empanadas filled with a variety of meat and cheese or enjoy the delightful Chamara Pibil, you're sure to have a meal that speaks to the soul of Yucatecan culture.

Probably the best cochinita I’ve had in Cancun. Very much worth a visit for anyone looking to try some typical Yucatan food. We had the platillo surtido, which included delicious antojitos and was perfect for sampling, followed by the Chamorro pibil (pictured) which was huge and very very good. Please note this is a cash only place!

Sometimes the "foodie" sites miss the important restaurants and Emara Antojitos Yucatecos is an important restaurant. If you're tired of the "5 star" (overpriced and boring) restaurants in the hotel zone then head on over to Mercado 28 and try the offerings at this hidden local gem. But bring a group because you'll probably want to try (share) everything on the menu! Our small group ordered (see pix) Sopa De Limon - using sour chicken and lemons this palate cleansing soup will replace the taste of the hotel zone with "pure love"! Relleno Negro - Chicken and beef stuffed into a "black sausage" made from grilled chilies and a spice mixture, with just enough heat to open your taste buds (not too hot). Papadzules - (I wish we could have come back one morning to try this for breakfast). Warm tortillas covered with chopped eggs and a spice blend including ground pumpkins seeds - the whole thing bathed in tomato and pipian sauces. Cochinita Pibil - yes other local restaurants offer this dish - BUT how many of them make it the traditional way (steamed underground for 24 hours!) Vaporcito - this confection is made from steamed corn dough spiced with achiote, filled with pork and wrapped with banana leaves. Nuff said. Empanadas - Well I have had empanadas in many latin countries and until now, the best were (in my opinion) in Spain. Not anymore: ours were stuffed with minced meat but you can choose from quite an array of meaty and cheesy options. Yumm! And the prices...Our entire meal (including drinks) was about 30! Better yet - stay in the hotel zone and keep this gem for the locals!

The most authentic restaurant that we visited in Mexico! The food was delicious - like a real meal at home. The price for a dish was between 100-300 which compared to other restaurants in Cancun (especially hotel zone) was very good. The service was excellent - very polite and welcoming. Definitely worth visiting!

This place is in another level, it’s been in business for facades and their food quality does not change. It gets better and better to be honest! If you are looking for authentic antojitos yucatecos this is your spot in Cancun, Mexico. Very clean, friendly and owners always on site to make you feel comfortable. I ordered a mix of their menu to enjoy everything they offered. Their portions sizes are great and set at local affordable prices. Hope you visit and support local small businesses vs chains and hotels. This is the real Mexico you want to find when you visit cancun. Have fun and keep on eating! #chicocares

Excellent food, clean bathroom, friendly staff. Had the chicken lime soup and it was absolutely delicious. Plus even though it was hot, eating this soup helped me tolerate the heat better. Attaching menus for reference

Fantastic restaurant specializing in Yucatan cuisine that you can’t find easily elsewhere. The sour orange cochinita pibil was very tasty. The relleno negro was unlike anything I’ve had and was very good as well. The chaya water, mexican house coffee and warm flour cake were all delicious. 10/10. Kudos to the chefs behind this

Very good! The queso relleno had a strong fermented cheese and olives flavor, it's a unique taste that I liked more than expected. The sweet ground beef and queso blanco paired wonderfully with the tortillas too.

We reached this place around 7pm and it was almost closing time but they still entertained us though a lot of items were over by then. Advice reach early. We tried the papadzules which was delicious so so good!! It has boiled eggs inside the wrap and the sauce was made out of papita and was surprisingly lovely! We also ordered the Longaniza de Valladolid. It was also good to taste. For 250 peso it was great meal! The owner is very cordial. The food is tasty. Highly recommend!
